The warmer weather is around the corner so it is time to pull out the patio furniture and get it ready for the summer. There are a few things to watch when you are cleaning your patio furniture. You never want to use an abrasive cleaner as you may scratch the finish or strip the paint off. You should always use a soft brush/cloth with a mild liquid detergent and just wipe the surfaces. If you have plastic patio furniture you can always put a coat of car wax on it to help protect its finish.

Cleaning that fire Place

As winter is coming to a close we are using our fire places less and less here are some great tips for cleaning that fire place after a winter use. First and for most you never want to use your vacuum to clean out the ashes. The smallest amount of heat in an ember can cause it to reignite and melt your vacuum or worse cause a fire. Always scoop them out into a steel container and let them cool outside.

When it comes to cleaning the hearth there are a few different ways to do that depending on what your hearth is made of. If it is made of brick you just want to use a scrub brush with warm clean water. Never use any type of soap as the soap may cause your brick to discolor. It you have a tile hearth you can use a mild liquid soap for wiping down the tiles. A nonabrasive cleaner work well for taking any scorch marks off the tile that might be present. For cleaning the glass a simple razor blade will take off a lot of the debris then just clean with a mild detergent letting it soak first.
